Venezuela stops oil shipments to Honduras

Caracas, Jul 08 ABN.- Venezuela's Minister of People's Power for Energy and Oil Rafael Ramírez confirmed on Wednesday that the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has stopped oil shipments to Honduras until President Manuel Zelaya Rosales is reinstated in his post and the constitutional order in this Central American nation is reestablished.

'We can not transfer Petrocaribe's benefits to a dictatorship, let alone to a small businessmen group waging a coup d' État,' he stressed.

'Venezuelan oil supply to Honduras amounts to 20,000 oil bpd,' said Ramírez.

President Hugo Chávez has expressed his total support to the return of President Zelaya. On Tuesday, he called on the Honduran people to keep resisting the repression of the de facto government.

Regarding the pro-coup Honduran soldiers, as the Venezuelan president addressed the Honduran people, he said he was confident that 'your Honduran soldiers, not the ones belonging to the bourgeoisie or the empire, will come out soon.'

Noteworthy, the US government has suspended financial aid to the de facto government of Honduras. According to a press release read by the Telesur correspondent Madelein García, aid for elementary education activities, environmental programs, family planning, among others included in the Free Trade Agreement, was suspended.

García explained that humanitarian aid related to the supply of food, HIV/AIDS prevention and support to the coming elections, to be held in November, has not been denied.
